What a Day...

Ellie's appointment was at 10:30 this morning at the specialist. We got there just before, but went to the wrong side, so we went over to the other side and waited to see the doctor. It wasn't long before she came in and started asking us questions about Ellie...then about 10 or 15 minutes later, she took Ellie back for a neurological exam. I would say approximately 45 minutes later, she came back in and said that we saw the wrong doctor, but the neurological doctor would be back to see her soon. About another 45 minutes passed...by this time we had been there for about 2 hours. She came back in and told us that the neurologist had two other dogs she had to see before Ellie. Yeah. V went up and asked the receptionist about 30 minutes later and asked how much longer it would be, because we wanted to go home if it was going to be a long time. The receptionist went back and asked and came to our room about 5 minutes later to tell us that she was sorry, but apparently when I scheduled the appointment yesterday they thought I said IVB, not IVD, which is why they sent in the wrong doctor at first.

Things finally got taken care of, and the neurologist came in to talk to us about Ellie. She said she did an exam on her and all of her limbs were weak and she listed three things she thought she might have...then explained what we could do to check for said things and gave us an estimate that was WAY more than we had. So we told her that, and asked what few things she would recommend doing first, to see if we could find something out. We ended up getting her bloodwork checked, and an x-ray to make sure her esophagus wasn't swollen, and I would come back in two hours to pick her up.

I picked her up and they got the results back from the bloodwork and the x-ray, and everything looked normal. So we're sending her bloodwork off to a lab (I'm guessing) and they're going to run a test for myasthenia gravis, which was the first thing she mentioned when she was listing the possibilities. The only thing that sucks about that test, is that it takes like a week and a half for the results to come back. In the meantime she told me that if I see her digress in any way that I need to call them immediately.

Now my princess is home resting...after her long, stressful day. Poor baby. I hope within the next two weeks we'll know what's wrong.

While my darling is resting, I'm at my sister's waiting for V and my sister's fiance to get back from playing a half round of golf, then we're going out to dinner! I got a birthday coupon to a bbq joint for buy one dinner entree, get one free! Holla! Maybe it'll take my mind off the Ellie for just a little bit.
