Extra Credit!

Today we worked on a lot of extra credit for math. We studied a lot for the test, and both learned a lot that we didn't know the first time around! I feel a lot better about taking it...we shall see!

She's camera shy, lol

My Sister's Wedding

I went to look at the venue my sister and her fiance have picked out for their wedding this afternoon with my parents. It was really pretty, and I'm super excited about the whole thing, but at the same time I'm seeing how much stress they're going through, and it makes me want to elope. Honestly. Then I won't have to deal with all the money, inviting everyone and their mothers, and all the other bullshit. But then, if I was to elope (whenever/whoever I marry), no one would be there to experience it with me. I don't know, its not like I have to think seriously about it now, because I'm not even engaged, but when the time does come, I've got a lot to consider! Like...a LOT.

Until then, I will be here, helping if/when she needs it, and supporting her with every decision she makes!

My Celeb Crush

Have I ever told you how much I heart Rob.Patts? Because I do. Want to know how it started?

My bff Amby was like obsessed with the books and the movie when it first came out. It was right around the time me and V started dating, and she kept telling me that I had to watch Twilight, because V and I reminded her of Edward and Bella. I finally gave in, and me, V, and his roommate watched it at his old duplex. I thought it was so.dumb. Which is exactly what I told Amby. Then a couple weeks later my sister came into town and was reading Twilight while we were at the beach! I made fun of her when I saw it, and she told me that I should read it. So when she left to go back home, she left the book for me. I got a really bad sunburn at the beach and while I was taking a vinegar bath to try and take the burn out of my skin, I decided to start reading it. [Mind you...I'm not a reader. The last book I read was Perks of Being a Wallflower when I was in like 9th grade.] I spent the remainder of the day reading it. I was seriously sucked in after like the first paragraph. And I liked it even more because I had already seen the movie, so I had faces to go with each character, and I was like picturing scenes while I read. I was hooked. Every day that I drove to V's house, I brought the book with me and read at red lights. Twilight, then New Moon, which took me a little longer to read because Edward wasn't in it as much, Eclipse, and then Breaking Dawn. By the time I finished the books, I was obsessed too. (Thx, butthair!) I have a "stupid lamb" sticker on my car. I saw Remember Me when it came out...mostly because he was in it, and it ended up being a really good movie. Then I saw Water for Elephants...only because he was in it. I was expecting it to be really stupid. "A movie about a circus?" I thought...but it ended up being SO grood!

I own Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse on DVD and I cannot even tell you how many times I've watched Twilight. It's the only movie I've ever watched at home, more than a handful of times. It's definitely my favorite...so far. Out of the books, in order from favorite to least favorite: Twilight, Breaking Dawn, Eclipse, New Moon.

J-O-B!

I've picked up yet another babysitting job! I met with the mom and her daughter this morning. She was super nice, and her daughter is really adorable, and very well-behaved! I'm going to watch her two days next week and I'm thrilled! I'll be making a good amount of money, which is MUCH needed! She starts school in September, so she's really looking for someone to help her out a lot in August, which is PERFECT because school gets out on Tuesday, and the fall semester doesn't start until August 29th! I'm super excited that this came along! I brought Laceydog with me, and she enjoyed herself, and was very tired after we left!

Now we're home, and I'm going to get to work on some math homework and the extra credit. I actually think it's possible to pass this math class now...since we have another chance to take test 3. I know what to study, so I think it's going to be very beneficial to me.

Time to get to work!

TechnicalWHAT?!

I opened up my BlackBoard this evening to see a new announcement in my math class:

Important- Test 3 ( Change for tech difficulty )

Posted on: Wednesday, July 27, 2011
Those who have already taken test 3, you can take it again, because there is some technical difficulty in the question number. The number of questions will be changed. I will fix it on July 28. I have extended the date. so you can take the test 3 On July 29 - July 31. If you have any quetsion email me. sorry about that.
Also you can work on tests on MyMathlab for extra credit if you want

SAY WHAAAAAAAT?! That stupid test WASN'T supposed to be 99 questions?! And I GET ANOTHER CHANCE TO TAKE IT?!??!!? So there's a GOOD chance I WON'T be failing this class?!?!?! I'm also able to access the test I already took...so I can use it to STUDY! I'm going to my sister's Friday evening, because she's a math whiz, and she's going to show me how to do all the problems I got wrong. YES! It's amazing how things can change. I guess there was a reason why I couldn't find another math class to sign up for! I'm SO thankful right now. !!!!

FAIL

I'm at school currently...waiting for V to finish our 3rd math test. I just failed mine. Somewhere around a 55%. I'm feeling pretty much like a huge failure at the moment, and I just want to go to yoga. We were supposed to go to the 4 o'clock class, because we were expecting our math test to be just like the others (around 30 questions). NOPE. This one was 100. Totally not expecting that.

Have you ever tried to do 100 math problems in a row? My brain pretty much told me to "eff-off" around #40. I swear over half of the test was these stupid ass word problems that I don't know how to do, so I was literally just guessing. Choosing whatever looked good to me. I feel pretty awful right now. This means my GPA is going in the trash, basically, and next semester instead of taking College Mathematics, I'll be re-taking College Algebra. Which means that in the spring I'll have to either ADD this College Mathematics class to my already full schedule (of 4 classes), which means I'll be taking 5 total. Or take it all alone in the summer. I have to take next summer off anyways because I can't start at UCF until the fall. So this won't be hindering the time I start at UCF, it'll just be really hurting my GPA, which really really sucks. I wish I could withdrawal...right now. But I'm pretty sure I can't. I'm probably going to email my teacher and ask her just in case, though. If I withdrawal it doesnt change my GPA, it just sucks because I've paid for a class that I won't be getting anything for. UGH. This SUCKS.

Study Udy Udy

This morning we spent the entire class studying for our ASL final. It was quite helpful and I feel pretty grood about it! I'm home eating some Special K, waiting for V to finish his literature packet for humanities so we can go to school and study for our math test, and then take it. Hopefully I'll do better on this one than on my last!

After we take the test I think we're going to go to an earlier than usual yoga class, and spend the remainder of the evening at home eating some delicious salmon! Woo!

Student Loans (DEBT!)

I got a letter in the mail today from my student loan loaner. It was pretty much a notice of my current balance...of over $8000 and I'm not even done with my AA! GAH! I can't imagine how much it's going to be by the time I'm done with UCF. I'll be paying it back for the rest of my life.

I took my biology final today and got a 104% :D I'm pretty sure I'll be passing that class with a 97%! Go me! Then I did some math homework. I babysat for a few hours in the late afternoon, and when I got home, V was home from work and we ate dinner and headed to school to try and study for our last math test before the final. There's a math tutoring area in one of the buildings at school and today (since it's the week before finals) everyone was there. We had so many questions, but never even saw a tutor. We got some other stuff done, but didn't get help on the things we didn't understand. We're planning on going back at some point tomorrow to figure out things from chapter 5, and to take our chapter 5, 6, and 8 test.

Now we're home and I'm relaxing on the couch, watching some television. I need to go over the rest of my ASL vocab to figure out what words I don't know.

Production!

Today has been quite productive if I do say so myself! I went to school this morning until about 9:15 (class is supposed to be until 10:10 but we've never actually stayed past like 9:45). Then I came home and cut the grass (front AND back!). I decided to cut the front all fancy-like, so I did it diagonally. Then I realized that I missed quite a few areas, so I went over it again, going the opposite diagonal direction. I was like "oh, this is going to make it all fancy and checkered!". Then I realized, after I finished cutting it for the second time, that it wasn't all checkered...but I wanted it to be now! So I went over it again (a third time!), but skipped a mower's width each time, so you could still see the patch going the opposite way underneath. I don't really know if it even looks good because I haven't see it from the street, but I hope it does! After I finally finished the front, I went to the back and chopped the shit. I don't care how the back looks, just as long as it's short! After I was done cutting, I realized how messy the utility room was, so I swept it out...along with the front porch and the carport. Then I was done. And pooped!

I came in and cooled off...showered and made myself a mini pizza for lunch because I was starving! It was around noon now, so I figured I'd eat lunch and relax for a little bit, and then maybe do some homework. I watched an episode of What Not to Wear and ate my pizza. Then V's mom texted me and said she was making us a lasagna and she would bring it over when it was done. SCORE! She makes a delicious lasagna! I started working on some math homework, and then she stopped by. She's gone now and I'm back to my math homework. I was planning on doing one section a day until Friday (it's due Saturday), but then I realized we also have a test that is due Saturday, covering the sections I'm currently working on, and I think we're going to have to take the test either tomorrow or Wednesday, and then our math final is next Tuesday. Then school will be OVER! I have my final assignment for biology (a 3 hour time limit, 100 question exam) that I have to finish by next Monday, everything for humanities is done (but not graded) and so far I came up from my 67% to a 74%! Looks like I'll be passing that class after all! Even though I'm sure my GPA isn't going to like a C...there's nothing I can do about it now! My ASL final is next Monday as well, and I'm sure I'll do just fine on that. It's just like our other unit tests, so I'm not worried. We're reviewing for it all week, so if I have any questions I can get them answered beforehand.

Anyways, here's my picture for the day. I need to get back to my math!

Just a Bunch of Homeworks

I did an exam for humanities (which brought my grade up from a 67% to a 74%! Hello C!), and I've been doing math homework for the past almost 2 hours. I'm done for now. My brain is tired and these logarithms just don't make sense!

Tampa

Today we (me, V, my sister and her fiance) took a trip to Tampa for my friend's boyfriend's birthday party. We had a good time, but now we're all pretty pooped...and it's only like 7 in the evening!

Friday Funday

This morning I went to the mall and then lunch with my sister. Then we spent some time in the pool, which was quite enjoyable if I do say so myself! Now we're just relaxing and later I'm going to yoga since I didn't get to go last night!

Literature Packet...

I will finish you today! I've been working on it since the beginning of last week and I'm a little over half way done. I'm on a mission to finish it today so it will be out of my life for good! I can't WAIT til this stupid humanities class is over. Who knew that my favorite of all my online classes would be biology?! Came as a total shock to me! I think I like it best because it's pretty easy, and I'm doing really well in it. I currently have like one assignment left, and I have a 96%! Woo! That, and ASL are my only guaranteed A's so far. I'm really hoping to get a B in math. I think if I actually try on these last 2 tests, I can do it. Humanities I'm REALLY hoping for a C because I have a 65% D right now. If I get A's on my last 3 assignments, I'm really hoping it'll bring my 65% up to a 70% or better, because if it only gets up to a 69% she will NOT round up. She's mean!

This is exactly what I'm going to look like all day until my homework is done, or until V gets home and we have to get ready to go to dinner. My oldest sister is coming into town today and we're meeting her for dinner tonight! I'm looking forward to it because I'll be getting out of the house, and I won't be thinking about homework, but I'm kind of sad because I'll be missing yoga! I was going to go today, but I really want to finish my lit. packet, so I probably won't be able to. I figure, if anything, I can go tomorrow...or Saturday morning.

I decided after bombing my math test the other night that I should probably take math at school next semester since I'll be taking this class all on my own. So I switched it from online, to Fridays from 10am until 12:45pm. I know it's long, but thats because it's only one day a week. I'll have to pick up Rose from school by 2:15 on Fridays as well, so my Fridays are going to be super busy for a few months! I think it might be nice though because when we get math homework, I'll have an entire WEEK to finish it!

Well...that's all the time I get for my break. I think I actually have to read one of these stories, because I can't find any cliff notes online about it. BLAH!

ButterFace

Today I don't look good for a picture, so you're getting this. It's still me...so it counts!

Remember the math test I told you about yesterday? Well I totes bombed it. 66%

Tuesday Test

Tonight, after V gets home from work, we have to go to school and study for our 2nd test in math...and then take it. I'm really not looking forward to it, especially because Tuesdays are our one night a week (during the week) that we have nothing going on in the evening. Now we'll have to spend it at school...doing MATH.

This morning I did some ASL homework and then took a trip to the bank with Lacey. The weather here has been unseasonably pleasant yesterday and today, so on our way to the bank, windows were down, and the ac was off...and I never even got hot! And it was like after 11am! Very surprising, yes. I'm hoping this evening will be a repeat of yesterday's evening because it was gorgeous!

After we got home I did some laundry this morning and picked up a few things around the house...and did the dishes. Then I watched Switched at Birth while I ate my lunch. Now I'm done with that and I'm forcing myself to finish my ASL homework before it's too late. It's due tomorrow and I'd really like to have it done before we leave to go to school this evening.

Wish me luck on my second math test! First one I got an 88 which I was very pleased with, but this one I'm not sure how confident I'm feelin...

M-I-C-K-E-Y M-O-U-S-E

We ended up leaving for Disney around 4 yesterday and we met my dad just before 5, I think. We went on Star Tours at Hollywood Studios and it was AWESOME! We were going to go on Rockin' Roller Coaster next, but the wait was 90 minutes and neither of us wanted to wait that long, so we headed over to the Magic Kingdom. We went on Pirates first, and then we were going to go on Space Mountain, but when we got over there it was down. So then we went over to the Haunted Mansion and the wait was 25 minutes, so we decided to wait. It was worth it because they changed a lot of the stuff you see while you're waiting in line, AND the part at the end where the ghost rides in your cart with you...the ghost moves! He sat on top of V and then looked over at me and pulled my head off and popped it! It was like directly on point as to where my head was and it was really funny! After that we went to eat our dinner, and then walked over to Thunder Mountain, but it was down too! BUMMER! We walked around a little and I saw Tom Sawyer's Island and wanted to go over there, but the last boat departed to go at 7:30 and it was like a quarter til 8. So we ended up just leaving. I was bummed because the weather was absolutely beautiful, but I'm glad we left when we did, because we were home by like 9, got to relax (and watch Big Brother!), and then we went to bed. This weekend was really great, overall. I enjoyed myself a lot!

On our ferry ride!

We're going to spend the evening at Disney! I'm super excited!

Hole #2!

I went to the mall with my mom this morning/afternoon. We had a wonderful time, and I got a second hole in my ears, and my mom got hers re-pierced! Her friend pierced them for her when she was a teenager...with a needle, thread and a potato. I guess they got all infected and stuff, so she stopped wearing earrings and just let the holes close. I've been wanting another hole, so I finally decided to do it! I also got a really nice new bra, which I've been needing for way too long!

See the second little sparkle?! I LOVE it! :D

History Center!

This morning me and V went to the Orange County Regional History Center, to do a project for our humanities class. I actually really enjoyed it there, it was cool!

LOL!

After we got home we wrote our papers about the museum, and now V is working on math homework, and I'm working on that stupid literature packet for humanities. I can't wait til this class is OVER!

Cleaning!

I've cleaned a LOT today!

Started off cleaning the fridge...then decided to clean the floors and cupboard doors in the kitchen. Then I cleaned the bathroom floors, toilet, and sink. I washed all the rugs too! I vacuumed the whole house, AND did the laundry! Go me!

I did a little bit of math homework this morning...I wanted to finish 5.1 and 5.2 because they're due on the 17th. So I logged on to find that I already finished 5.1 (which I forgot about!), so all I had to do was 5.2. It only took me about an hour and after I finished, I decided to look at all my scores for each section. I came across section 4.4 and there was no score...I hadn't done it yet! I thought I finished all the 4's last week! Needless to say I didn't do it yet...I'm sick of doing math!

Also...I'm currently kind of obsessed with this song:

!school!

I just took my last test (before the final) in biology and got a 105%! I should have gotten a 110% because one of the extra credit questions I TOTES got right. It was a fill in the blank and I answered "femoral vein" and the answer she had was "femoral", so I emailed her asking her if I could get credit for it. I'm sure she'll say yes, she's super nice! I'm doing SO well in that class! I have a 96%! I think in my math class I have an 84% and in humanities I currently have a 65%. WTF! I was doing SO well in that class before I missed those two assignments. Remember how I thought the grades were already rounded in and that I still had an A? Well...I was mistaken. The following week they were rounded in, and it brought my grade from like a 92% down to a 65%. Every homework I've done since then I've gotten a 100% on, but since our homework doesn't count for much at all, it hasn't effected my grade in the least. 60% of our final grade is our exams, and currently, my cumulative exam grade is a 57%. I emailed my prof, asking her if I could make up the exam grade, or have some extra credit and this was her reply:

Hi Jessica,
As you know, late tests are not given. You have a lot of time to take them, but they can not be late. I suggest you print the course schedule and keep it where you can see it, so you don't miss any more deadlines.
Sorry, but there is also no extra credit. I have found that extra credit only adds to the work load and is unproductive both is time management and accountability to the course. I'm sure you have learned a hard lesson.
A. Harris

HOW RUDE! It's not like this is some fancy school and I'm getting my Ph.D or something! I'm at a community college getting my AA. I thought the course was a Gordon Rule class (meaning you have to pass with a C or higher to get credit), but it's not. Thankfully, because I'm not sure I'll get above a D. Which TOTALLY SUCKS because it's going to bring down my GPA, but whatevs I guess. I still have time to bring it back up before I'm done at VCC.

This semester is coming to a quick end. I just finished the LAST chapter in my humanities book, and took my last test, and did my last discussions in biology. However, humanities is far from over. We have to go to a museum on Friday for this museum project we have, and then we have this stupid literature packet we have to complete. 9 plays to read, and answer stupid questions about. I've done like one and a half. It's due on the 29th, so I'll probably finish it on the 28th? Lets get real! I'll be SO glad when that class is over! But next semester I'm taking 20th century humanities! BARF! Hopefully my prof will be a little nicer than Alberta!

Major + Minor = Success!

I decided yesterday that I want to minor in interpreting when I go to UCF. I'll be majoring in elementary education, but I thought, since I like ASL so much, during the summers when I'm not teaching, or after I retire, I can interpret! I went to school to talk to an academic advisor about my new plan, but I guess the advisor for UCF won't be in until Thursday morning...so I'll be going back to talk to him.

I did find out that upon finishing ASL I, II, III, and IV, I'll be getting my ASL Certificate! And since I'll be done with I, II, and III by the time I'm done at Valencia, I'll only have to take IV at UCF, along with whatever else I need for my interpreter education. There's a girl in my ASL I class that is majoring in interpreting, so I messaged her on FB and asked her what she knows!

I'm very excited about this new decision, I feel like an overachiever, and it's AWESOME!

UPDATE: I got a reply from the girl in my class, and she said she transferred FROM UCF to Valencia because UCF doesn't have Deaf studies anymore. I guess they got rid of their program in 2009...I don't know much more, but I'm still going to talk to an advisor at school to see what I can do.

FREE SLURPEES!

Today 7/11 is giving away free slurpees (because it's July 11 (7/11!))! I stopped at 7/11 on my way home from school and got one...yes, it was only 9:15am, and no, I dont care if you're judging me...there are no rules on free slurpee day!

Shirt Repeater

I know, I wear the same shirts all the time! But this stripe shirt, and the one I had on in yesterday's pictures are both new, so I'm wearing them a lot! Get over it!

And...just because she's so darn cute...

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

Saturday

This morning we went on a drive through a wildlife management area. It was nice and relaxing! Then we got lunch at Hot Dog Heaven and headed to Sports Authority to buy V some new golf shoes. Now we're home, doing homework!

Homework Day!

I've been doing humanities homework since about noon. Still goin!

This morning I went to American Eagle to buy a new pair of shorts...that fit me! I found a pair, and got a shirt on clearance (seen in my picture), and made a new friend! She's in the same ASL class at VCC that I am, just at a different time! I friended her on FB! If you know me at all, you'll know this is a very unordinary event. Jessicat making a new friend does NOT happen often!

Anyways, I edited this picture and updated my blog to take a homework break, but now I need to get back! I'll leave you with this beautiful song though...I've been listening to it on repeat since I started my homework. I'm not even exaggerating.

Deaf Interaction?!

GAH! I'm going to do my Deaf interaction tonight with a friend from my class and we're both freaking out! I'm really nervous that I'm going to look like an idiot...or that no one is going to show up!

I think I have a new hair style! For a while...I'm sick of it just being straight so I tried out a new technique last night. Got out of the shower and waited for my hair to dry...a lot. Then I put some of this curling mousse I have, and since I don't have a diffuser for my blow dryer, I decided I would just scrunch it up into a clip. It kept it pretty wavy last night, but this morning it was a little lame, so I sprayed it with some water and re-moussed it, and it's holding up pretty well so far! I'll see how it looks tonight!

Wednesday, July 6, 2011

100%!

I got a 100 A+ on my biology test! There were 50 questions, each worth 2 points, and two extra credit questions worth 5 points each. I ended up missing 5 of the regular questions, but got both of the extra credit ones right, so I got a 100! I was so happy about it!

Tuesday, July 5, 2011

NOT GUILTY?!

Casey Anthony was found not guilty on 1st degree murder AND child abuse. Only guilty on 4 counts of lying to law enforcement...which all only give her 1 year in jail...and she's already served over 3, so she might be out by this weekend, I heard. WHAT?! I can't believe it. I recorded it in case you want to see it...or not..."there was an error while uploading your video" Whatevs!

GAH! I still can't believe it.

New Bedroom!

Here you go :]

New bed! I LOVE it! I don't think I'll be able to make a headboard for it though...unfortunately. They didn't have any without headboards..except for one and I didn't like it at all!

Finally got some pictures hung up on the wall...the wall to the left in this picture is going to be covered with a wall sticker sometime in the future...it's currently completely bare. Lol

My night table. I'm going to either stain or paint them...if they get painted, I think it'll be green!

Close up of my pretty lamp!

V's night table! We both chose the lamps we liked best...I didn't want them to match!

Smelly!

And since we had  to down-size on the dresser, we got these to put in the closet for our undies and socks! Works perfectly!

All in all I'm VERY happy with how the room looks. It seems so much bigger, and since the bed is so low, it makes the ceilings seem a lot taller! Score!

This afternoon we're going to V's parents house for dinner...and then later tonight we'll probably go hang out with Lucas and Alicia :] Tomorrow, for the 4th of July, I think we're having a few people over in the early afternoon to swim, and then we're going to my parents house for a bbq...THEN I'm really hoping to go to the beach and watch fireworks for a while because it's AWESOME! You can see them all over the place!

Me and Luna!

B&W

Spent my morning with my favorite cousin, and now spending my afternoon with my sister!
