Sad Day Yesterday

My sister's good friend Courtney McMillion passed away yesterday. I met her once, at a bridal crawl Downtown in January, I think. She came with me, Lindsey, and Amber. She was so nice and easy to get along with. Her sweet little hint of a southern accent was so cute! I remember her saying that we would all go together again the next year and Amber or I (or both!) would be the brides-to-be. So very sad that she is gone now. Her and her fiance have been in my thoughts, and I only wish the best for him and her family during this hard time. Even though I didn't know her well, I knew she was a good person with a good heart, so I wanted to dedicate my post to her today.

Rest in peace, Courtney. You will be dearly missed by many. I am honored that I got to meet you and spend that day with you. 

Cribs!

Well, we did our final presentation yesterday! We recorded ourselves before, to see how long it was and how ridiculous we looked, and since I missed yesterday's post, I'm going to share it with you!

I was going to post it yesterday, but blogger was taking FOREVER to upload it, and I had to go to yoga! So I didn't get a chance to.

This morning I woke up to go to breakfast with my parents. Then I went to the mall with my mom! She bought me a few early birthday presents! I got to bring home one of them to keep now, but I have to wait til my birthday for my others. Fair enough.

After we got home I decided to lay out.

I noticed yesterday afternoon that our ac wasn't working right. I have it on a schedule to be on 77 during the day but when we got home from school, the inside temperature read 79. Then about an hour later, climbed up to 80. NOT COOL. It took forever to cool off, but it did. By the time I woke up this morning it was to the regular 73, but it climbed back up. Now it's set to 77 and it says the temperature inside is 80. I called our ac service and they're "sending someone out as soon as possible". Hopefully they come before I melt. Ha.

ASL III Final!

WHOA! Thanks for notifying me about the new layout, blogger!

Today was our fiesta in my ASL III class. Everyone (except for me and my partner) did their final presentations and it was quite enjoyable. For the most part. I'll be taking mine on Thursday because my partner had her first day of work today, so we had to do it another day. Thankfully my professor allowed us to do it another day!

That's me on the end there...in the red pants! My professor is the one next to the kid in the sombrero, making the angry face! He was awesome :] He'll also be my professor for ASL IV, which I'll be taking in the fall! No ASL classes over the summer and I'm kinda bummed! I'm taking Deaf Culture, Psychology and some biology class. After the summer semester is over, I'll only be taking ASL and/or interpreting classes until I graduate! Which will be after the summer semester of 2013!

Morning Walk

Me and Lacey met up with Alicia and Maddox this morning to go for a nice walk. The weather today is absolutely beautiful, so I'm glad we got to take advantage of it!

The nasty sky brought in a beautiful cold front for today and tomorrow, with highs in the low to mid 70's! I've got the windows open and I'm enjoying the fresh air in the house.

I feel guilty just sitting on the couch watching tv this afternoon, because usually I'd be worrying about homework that I had to do...but I don't have any! It's so nice! I just can't wait until my last final is over!

Oh, Beach, How I Love You

I do, I do, I dooooo.

This morning we woke up to go to my nephew's baptism and then went to my aunt and uncle's house for brunch. It was nice, but after we got home, both V and me were in a weird funk. We got comfy on the couch and watched the movie Taken. It was good! Would have been better without commercials, but I enjoyed the time cuddled with my love. By the time the movie was over the funk was still kind of lingering in the air. I got my suit on and went to lay out by the pool, and V was hitting golf balls around the yard. It was early, only like 3, and we were already like winding down for the day and I didn't want that to happen yet! So I had the idea of taking a trip to the beach. So we did. We packed a bag and headed to the coast. We chilled out for a while and just spent some quality time together. It was absolutely perfect. After we left, we got dinner at our favorite restaurant on the coast, Rusty's. While we were sitting on their outside deck, I spotted a dolphin swimming by! It was so adorable, I loved it. 

Then on the way home we saw 4 deer, and apparently V saw like a batch of 20+ hogs, but I missed 'em! 

Overall it was a great day. I'm sad that its Sunday and V has to work tomorrow. I would love it if we were on a beach vacation and he didn't have to go back to work for a week. If only.

Dream

This morning I had a very weird dream. I've been having a lot of strange dreams lately, but they usually only happen after V leaves for work in the mornings. He wakes me to say goodbye, then when I fall back to sleep, these bazaar dreams occur.

I was in my parent's house, except it wasn't the one they live in now, nor was it the one they lived it before they moved, or even the one I grew up in. It was one I've never seen, just a dream house, but my dad was always there, watching golf on tv, and my mom was always there cleaning, so I knew they lived there because that's what they do. They had a basement, so it wasn't in Florida. I would escape to the basement and meet friends that I don't recognize in real life. I would play an odd game with these friends that I do not remember in real life. And somehow I would end up at this peculiar house, owned by Humphrey Becker from an episode of Law and Order: SVU. Creepy shit, right? Well, he would keep me in his house, being weird. And I would run away when I told him I had to go to the bathroom. I would run as fast as I could back to my parents house, because it wasn't too far, I guess? I would end up on the couch, watching golf with my dad like nothing happened. Then somehow I end up back at Humphrey's house. After like the third time, I put on this old ankle brace that I got in 8th grade, in real life. (I had ankle surgery on spring break my senior year of high school because I had tendonitis in my left ankle. It still bothers me pretty often.) Anyways, when I ended up back at his house, I had that ankle brace on because my ankle was hurting from running so much. He was threatening to punch it really hard, and I was laying on pillows on a bed, and told him that if he didn't let me pee before he punched my ankle, I would pee all over the bed. He let me go, and I bolted back to my parent's house.

Then I woke up.

That one there, in the middle, with the white shirt, cutting the lasagna...that's Eli. My Intro to Terp professor. Today was our last class. We had a party with his homemade lasagna, salad, a few appetizers, fruits, veggies and cookies! It was fabulous! After we finished eating, he interpreted a few songs for us and it was so amazing! By far the best class he has ever hosted. Ha.

It was also the end of my Terp I class. I had a meeting with my professor to discuss my Cloony the Clown video, and got an 85 on it. Had a 96 as my final grade! Woo! 

Errands Today

This morning I woke up and went grocery shopping. Then I went to a yoga sesh at noon. V texted me when I got there and asked me to bring him his golf clubs at work so he could go golfing after work because I have to babysit. So after class was over I headed home, showered and got his stuff to bring to him. After I left, I went to get myself lunch at Chipotle. I brought it home and ate half...saving the other half either for dinner tonight while I babysit, or lunch on Friday.

Tomorrow is my end of the semester party in my Introduction to Interpreting class. I'm super excited that that class is over! I have a final meeting with my professor for my Interpreting I class to discuss my Cloony the Clown video. That'll be my last time meeting for that class too!

Now I'm going to catch up on some recorded tv shows until I have to leave to babysit.

No More Humanities!

HOORAAYYYYYY!!!! I just finished my last paper for my Latin American Humanities class! It wasn't nearly as bad as I was anticipating and the whole thing only took me about an hour to finish! That class is now OVER!!!!!!!!!! This means I only have 3 classes left, and 2 of those are ending this Thursday! I really cannot believe that this semester is finally ending. I never thought we'd make it! (And by "we", I mean Savannah and myself). I remember when this semester first started and how I was seriously considering not becoming an interpreter and dropping both of my interpreting courses! Ha! I'm so very proud of myself and of Savannah for making it through, possibly with A's in both courses!

I had to braid my hair today because it's very dirty, and would have looked absolutely horrific if I left it down. Ha. But it ended up looking a lot better than I was expecting...I even got complimented from a fellow classmate in ASL III!

"Sorry"

Ugh. This morning I got laid off from yet another babysitting job. No more Beck and Cassie. Just like that. Their mom got a new full-time job, and she wants a full-time babysitter, and I can't do full time because of school, so I got the boot. Just.like.that. Way to ruin my day.

So now I have to look for yet another job. I almost don't even want to look for another babysitting job, because I feel like this is just going to keep happening. I wish I could just find a part-time receptionist position at a nice law firm. Three days a week. It would be perfect. 

I'm just really bummed. I have a classmate coming over in like a half hour to work on our final presentation for my ASL III class, and I'm really not looking forward to it. 

Now I have all day Wednesday to write my stupid compare/contrast paper for my Humanities class...good thing because I didn't get any of it done this morning, like I planned on. 

This sucks.

Sunday Afternooooon

So, I missed yesterday's post. Sorry!!

What did I do yesterday, you ask? I woke up at 7, and couldn't go back to sleep. I finally got out of bed at 7:30 and did my morning routine. Ate some Cinnamon Life and then me and Lacey met up with my Alicia, Maddox, Lindsey and Millie and went for a walk around Lake Underhill. V had to work most of the day, so when I got home I finished reading The Hunger Games, and then took a nice nap on the couch! Later in the evening we went to my aunt and uncle's house for dinner and some corn hole and ping pong action! It was a blast!

Then today I woke up at 8:30, because the dogs won't let me sleep past then (Ellie stretched on my door, scratching her nails on the way down, and Lacey lays in front of it and whines). I got a little bit of homework done, soaked up some sun, and did some laundry. Then I met up with Alicia, Maddox, Lucas and ReAnna and we went to Lake Eola's Fiesta in the Park! It was loverly, and I bought myself a new keychain and an adorable dainty little infinity ring that I absolutely love (it closely resembles a soft pretzel...see!).

When I got home, I made myself lunch. V came home shortly after me and fell asleep soon thereafter. I decided to do a little more homework, to get a reflective journal out of the way because I have a dreadful paper I have to write for my Latin American Humanities class tomorrow. I'm hoping to have it done before noon. I have to read two stupid stories and compare/contrast them. But at least it's my LAST PAPER for that class! Woo! It's also my very last assignment, so hopefully after tomorrow that class will be OVER! The semester is quickly coming to an end and two of my three on campus classes are throwing end of the semester parties! One this Thursday and the other next Tuesday! Me and Savannah are planning to take a trip to the beach the week after class is out to celebrate the end of our first chunk of interpreting classes! I'm looking forward to it! I'll have 1 whole week off between the end of this semester and the beginning of summer, but at least I'm not taking any classes on campus, so it'll be somewhat of a break from that place!

Tonight I'm thinking we might try a new place for dinner! We saw it the other night when we went to see The Hunger Games (which I liked muuuuch more after I read the book!). It's a little mexican place called Lime. It smelled delicious when we walked by, and was packed with people! I looked at their menu online and they seem very reasonably priced!

I also painted my nails this morning using a new decorating technique from my sister! I LOVE how they turned out!

Sorry it's kinda blurry...but you get the picture! I used a pencil! I just rubbed the lead of the pencil on the brush full of polish, and dotted it on! I really like it how it turned out! And it was super easy!!

Today was verrrry successful. I got my grocery shopping done (and bought a new pair of shorts that I'll  be wearing to school tomorrow, so I'll make sure they're in my picture!), visited with my mom, took the dogs for an afternoon walk, got some sun, and finished my ASL translation of my stupid poem! 

Speaking of getting some sun...I feel like this year I'm tanner than I've ever been! I'm diggin it!

My Day in Pictures

Woke up, tanned by the pool while reading the Hunger Games.

I met up with Savannah to have lunch at Chick-Fil-A before school, since our first class was cancelled!

Then I went to school for a few hours. When I came home, Savannah met me here to do an assignment for our ASL III class. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures from that time!

Buuuuuut, after she left, I took both of the dogs on a walk together, all by myself! They did surprisingly well, and we had a loverly time!

And after their walk, I decided to go for a swim while V was at the range!

Beachy!

Today I went to the beach with my sister. It was a beautiful day, the only thing that could have made it better was if V had been with us.

After we sun-tanned, we went to lunch at Rusty's. It was delicious, as usual. I'm home now...time to relax (and maybe work on some of my stupid translation for Cloony the Clown), before yoga tonight. I'm pretty pooped...maybe I'll take a nap. Hah!

Time for a Break!

School is finished for the week! I'm hoping to get my assignment for Terp I done before yoga tonight so I won't have to worry about it over the weekend. I've got lunch plans with my dad tomorrow, then I'm going swimming with my sister! It's going to be a wonderful day!

I really cannot believe it, but this semester will be over in the next couple weeks! I can still vividly remember calling my sister after my first interpreting class and TOTALLY second guessing my choice of becoming an interpreter! I'm really glad I got all of that figured out! Have I told you exactly what I've decided to do? Well...if I haven't, here's what's going on: I have classes left to take for this summer and fall, then the spring and summer of 2013 and THAT'S IT! I have one single assessment that I have to take to become an interpreter for OCPS and interpret for a little Deaf student in a mainstream classroom! I haven't decided yet if I want to start at UCF to get my BA in elementary education. I probably will soon after I start my job (if I can find something that works with my schedule, of course!). But I'm sure it would help tremendously if I have a background in the shit these teachers will be teaching! I really wish they had an interpreting program at UCF. I just can't see myself traveling to Tampa 2+ times a week to take classes for their interpreting program for 2 years! And I'm definitely not moving anywhere!

Annnnyways! I need to get started on that assignment if I want to finish it before yogs!

Back in Routine

I gotta get back in my blogging routine!

This morning, before babysitting, I watched my movie and wrote the paper for it! Hooray! Tomorrow morning I'm going to try and work on my Silverstein poem for Terp I!

I have been kindly reminded that I do not update nearly often enough these days by my beautiful cousin. So I am here and I am back! I'm officially beginning my photo-a-day (of myself!) again TODAY!

Herro!!!

I had school today and I am so overwhelmed! This semester is coming to an end and it seems like all of my professors have saved all of our assignments until now! I'm like flooded with homework/studying/translations! I have to watch a movie (2 DAMN HOURS LONG!) and write a "reflection" paper about it for my Latin American humanities class. For my ASL III class, I have to study for our Unit 14 test on Thursday. Surprisingly I don't have any homework for my Intro to Interpreting class, and I have to translate a PostSecret from written English to ASL for my Terp I class. I'm kind of looking forward to that assignment because the PostSecret I picked is really funny and adorable! This is it:

After I get my translation figured out, maybe I'll make a video of it especially for you, dear blog!

I also have to start working on my third assessment for my Terp I class. We're translating a Shel Silverstein poem, Cloony the Clown. From written English to ASL. Should be interesting. Our first 2 parts of the assignment are due this Sunday. I figure I'll work on that Friday since I have the day off from babysitting. I'm going to have to watch and write that stupid paper tomorrow morning before I have to go babysit though, which is going to suck! After this paper, I'll only have one more left for that class, and then I'll be done! On my first three papers my grades went as follows: 80, 85, 95. I'm very pleased that my grades are improving, and I'm hoping my grade on this paper will be in the 90's. My grade in that class right now is a 87% I believe, and I'd really like to have an A as my final grade! 

This weekend is Easter weekend and we have a dinner planned with my favorite aunt and uncle on Saturday, and then we're going to V's parents house for Easter dinner on Sunday. I'm planning to make some super cute Easter cupcakes to bring for dessert! I'll be sure to document it, and share pictures with you!

The weather is beginning to warm up quite quickly. I'm pretty sure this week it's in the 90's all week! I went for a swim yesterday and the pool was amazing. I've been working on my tan for quite a few weeks now and I'm very pleased with how it's coming along! 

Okay, I've got to get on my translating. I'll be sure to post tomorrow!
