Last Minute Presents!

This morning I went grocery shopping, and treated myself to a free smoothie from the new Wawa that opened near where I grocery shop! It was quite delicious. After groceries, I stopped by a local party supply store to get some giant sparkler candles for my bestie's birthday cupcake! I'm going over to the beach to hang out with her for her special day tomorrow!

Now I'm home, just finished lunch, and going to start my chores at the house. I want to get my car washed and cleaned out inside, finish the laundry, and vacuum the couch! I'm thinking about going to yoga later, but I haven't quite decided if I want to for sure just yet. We'll see how I feel after I finish cleaning my car.

The Olympics

Well, the Olympics started last night. We were going to watch Superbad while we ate dinner and relaxed for the night, but instead we decided to watch the Olympics and record Superbad!

Downtown Disney...

This morning I met up at my sister's house, to hitch a ride with her to my mom's house, to see my mom's cousin's (maybe...I think?) daughter perform in some sort of dance competition at Downtown Disney. (Now, let me explain to you something about these people. I was under the impression the entire time that it was going to be my mom's cousin who lives in Vero Beach and her daughter Olivia ((who was the flower girl at my sister's wedding)). It wasn't until after we got there, that I was informed that it was someone else that I hadn't seen in YEARS, and I totally didn't remember. Awk.)

Me and my sister got stuck in traffic on the way to my mom's, so instead of getting there at noon, we were there closer to 12:15/12:20. We were all hungry, so we went to lunch at some new place over by my mom's house and while we were there, I asked my mom what time Olivia was performing. She says "1:15" while looking at her watch. I ask her, "what time is it right now", and when she replies with "12:50", I look at her and tell her that we're never going to make it in time. And we didn't. We didn't get there until like 2:30, so we missed the whole thing. We were there for like a half hour or so, which was totally pointless and ridiculously HOT. But my sister bought some Disney lollipops that were quite enjoyable. Even though I was soaked in sweat. While wearing a dress.

Baby Gate Barrier!

This morning when V woke up he found Ms. Ellie sound asleep...ON THE COUCH. Where dogs do not belong! It's not the first time, but hopefully it will be the last! We put chairs on the couch, but apparently they don't phase her anymore, she just gets around them and finds a comfy spot to sleep.

So after I went to yoga this afternoon...

...I stopped at Once Upon a Child to pick up some baby gates to make a barrier to keep them in the FL room at night. I'm also planning to try it while we leave so Lacey can stay inside the house (and Ellie off the furniture, then, too!).

I'd also like to share with you this gray hair. One of TWO on my head...

See it?! The other one is around the same spot, just on the other side. How lovely it is(n't)!

Ladies That Dine

Last night, (most of) the ladies of the family met up for dinner. It was really nice to see them all!

We went to California Pizza Kitchen and I was not impressed. Their guacamole was delicious, but that was about it. I got a half CPK cobb salad for $9.50 and it was ridiculously small for almost ten dollars. And it didn't even taste that good...it was nothing special! I could have made a better one for a quarter of the price!

Cousins, sisters, mothers and daughters (and Maddox!).

Last Summer Assignment!

Today I finished the last assignment in my last class this summer...about a week early, and I'll have over a month until the fall semester starts!

I had to watch this movie and answer like 30, in depth questions about it! It took me almost 2 and a half hours. I've been dreading it, so I'm glad I finally bit the bullet and just did it!

I went to yoga early this afternoon and had a wonderful practice. We were gonna go running tonight when V got home, but it's been raining for the last 4 hours, and it doesn't look like there's an end in sight! So it'll have to be postponed. We can't go together tomorrow because I'm going to a girls dinner with all the ladies in my family! So I'll have to go during the day, and V will go in the evening (if he doesn't go to the range, that is!).

Happy Monday!

We Tried!

Well, we just got home from our 5k attempt. I surprised myself and didn't stop until a little over a mile and a quarter. I walked 1/2 a lap and then ran another, but then my ankle started to hurt (not sure I ever told you, blog, but I had ankle surgery in 2005 because of a case of tendonitis in my ankle...it never really went away.

) , so I decided to just walk. I figured out I average about a 15 minute mile at my pace.

This is what Jessicat looks like after she run/walks 2 miles!

When we got home, I decided to try out this new ab-regiment that I found on Pinterest. The girl I pinned it from said she did only 10 reps of each one and is already seeing a difference in tone within like 4 days! So I decided to try it because I'd really like to tone up my core...I'm sick of seeing it flab around and poke out!

Sunday...We Try!

Today we're going to try and run 3.1 miles to see if we can handle it (or how we can handle it), for next weekend's 5k! I'm interested. I just have to remember to breathe and pace myself. And not bring Lacey. Ha.

Friday Date Night!

Last night, after V brought the opossum to his new home, we got ready for a date! We planned on having dinner at Dexter's, but couldn't find a parking spot like anywhere, so we ended up heading toward College Park and ate at the old Alfonso's. After dinner, we used a Groupon that I purchased a while ago for glow-in-the-dark putt putt golfing!

It was a lot of fun, but quite harsh on the eyeballs!

I felt like we were glowing a lot more than my camera could capture...

V won, of course. I think he had a 46 and I had a 68...lol.

Tug-of-Opossum

This morning I woke up and got ready to go to Savannah's house to run some errands and hang out for the day. While I was getting ready I let the dogs outside, and a few minutes after they were out Lacey started barking. Usually I don't think anything of it because she barks a lot when she's outside. But she wasn't stopping. So I walked out to the porch to beckon them inside, to see them playing tug-of-war with an opossum. I didn't know what it was at first, and I thought it was a cat, so I, of course, freaked out. I called V to tell him what was going on (choking back tears), and he told me to just leave it alone and he would handle it when he got home. A couple minutes later (after talking to my bestie on the phone, and then V again), I walked out to investigate a little more, to find the poor little thing (that I still thought was a kitty cat) breathing. OMG. I was so sad because I knew it was just laying there, suffering in pain because of my crazy, instinctive, dogs. (I had to keep reminding myself that they are dogs and this is what they do...no matter how domesticated I think they might be, they still have canine instincts that force them to become wild at the sight of anything that moves.

Then I called my sister, who laughed at me and told me to call animal control. So I did some Googling and found a company and called them. The lady on the phone told me that it would be between $100-$150 for them to come out and capture the creature. I told her I didn't have that kind of money and hung up. Ha.

When I peeked out the window of the sliding glass door, I saw the back half of its body disappearing into a big bush we have, that was nearby the original crime scene...which is when I discovered it was an opossum. I could tell by the tail. That made me feel a little bit better (because it wasn't a sweet kitty), but I was still disgusted!

I finished getting ready and headed to Savannah's house.

We spent the day getting our nails done and getting her ready for her week long mission trip that she's leaving for tomorrow! After my fiasco this morning, all I wanted to do was get away from my opossum-mouth dogs. Ew.

When V got home, he looked around the yard and found the poor little guy still laying in the bush in the backyard. He decided to bring him a block over, where theres a grassy area that leads to a canal.

He had the golf club just in case the thing tried to bite him, he could shove it away with something other than his hands.

I still haven't let either of the dogs lick me.

Halloween Costume!

Well blog, I've decided (along with the help of my FB friends), that I'm going to be Katniss for halloween!!! I think its gonna be really awesome! I just went to Goodwill this morning to start looking for an outfit and found some really great pants for $3.49! All I need in addition to the pants is some combat-ish boots and a black jacket similar to the one she wore in the Games. I ordered a mockingjay pin from Etsy, and so far I've only spend around nine dollars! I'm going to keep checking out Goodwill every few weeks for the boots and jacket and hopefully I'll find something by the time halloween rolls around!

Let Your Hair Down

This morning my mom came over to visit and we met my dad and sister for lunch at Truffles in Winter Park. It was my first time eating there and I will definitely be going back! All of our meals were delicious! My dad and I shared the club, and when we ordered it, my dad just said "we're going to share the club", not realizing there was a club sammich and a club salad on the menu. So when the waiter brought our meals out, he had salads for my dad and I. Total misunderstanding, but he took them back and brought out our sammiches soon after. While we were eating, the manager came over an apologized and then when we finished, the waiter informed us that he took our sammich off the bill AND the manager came back over and offered us a free dessert! Wonderful customer service!

After lunch we ran a few errands, and then my mom drove me back to my house. She hung out for a few minutes until I left for yoga. I just got home and I'm waiting for V to get home so we can go for a run!

While I wait, I took my hair down so it could dry a bit before running.

Shopping Trip with Savannah & Family!

Sorry I missed yesterday! I got my collage all made up and just forgot to post it!

I woke up at the butt-crack of dawn yesterday to go shopping at Kohl's with my bestie, her mom, sissy and little brother! Her mom told me that if I found anything to buy that she would pay for it because she gets 30% off, and then I could just pay her back after. I found a pair of shorts that were kinda cute, but I couldn't make up my mind about. Then we went to the shoe section and I found this ADORABLE pair of sandals and I decided to get those instead of the shorts!

Those are them, in the middle on the top! Aren't they adorable?! After Kohl's, me and Savannah went to the mall to pick up an air mattress for her mission trip next week and headed to Old Navy to get myself a new purse (bottom, middle). My sister just bought the same one last week and I saw it and fell in love! It was on clearance for only $10, so I couldn't pass it up! After shopping, we met up with her mom, sis, and bro for lunch at Olive Garden. When we got back to her house, her other little sister came home and drew me a picture of Ellie, in the grass with flowers! ADORABLE <3

When I finally got home I decided to make some mini muffins with 4 suuuper overripe bananas that I didn't want to go to waste. Savannah was going to a sleepover with her dance team and she ended up coming over to pick up a bunch of mini muffins to bring to her sleepover :]

V came home shortly after, and we went for a run at the park! After our run we went to yogs!

Loverly day yesterday!

Today I decided to let myself sleep in because I didn't have much to do today. I woke up to a phone call from my loving sister, chatted with her for a bit and then headed to the grocery store! I just got home from grocery shopping and made some lunch, now I'm about to eat it and relax for a few minutes, then I'm going to take my LAST TEST FOR PSYCHOLOGY! I'll be SO GLAD when that class is over, and I really really really hope I get an A! I'm going to try my best on this last test to get an A, and as long as I do, I'll definitely have an A as my final grade!

Canoeing....Not For This Girl!

Well, this morning me and V made a trip to Wekiwa Springs State Park to go canoeing! I was very excited for the adventure, and was quickly informed that I do not like canoeing. I was tense and nervous, uncomfortable, and not having a good time. At all. We didn't paddle out very far before V decided to turn around for me. I thought it was going to be different. I thought I would feel more comfortable, and safe, and idk. I was just expecting something different. I didn't even get to use my waterproof disposable camera that I got! Super bummer, but oh well. At least now I know!

This evening we went for a run/walk at the park in our neighborhood. We ended up doing 28:40 minutes, running 14, and walking 14!

Cinderella

Last night I didn't get home from babysitting until like 2:30, so I decided to just let myself sleep until I was ready to wake up. 10:51am. Loverly. I spent my morning lounging around for a couple hours and then got ready to go see Cinderella at The Orlando Shakespeare Theater! It was absolutely adorable! Very funny and cute! I can't even remember the last time I went to see a play, and I think I forgot (or never realized) how great it is! I really enjoyed it!

I went to look in the gift shop after it was over and ended up finding some Shakespearean Insult Gum that I just couldn't pass up! As I was about to check out, I saw this beautiful bracelet inside the glass case that served as the counter, so I asked the cashier if I could try it on, and when I did, I saw that it was only $5.95, so I got that too! It's super pretty!

I also talked to one of the ladies who was interpreting, Nancy was her name. She works at Blankner School as a DHH Interpreter and invited me to come volunteer with her when school starts up next year! I'm thrilled and hope it works out. I'd like to be able to volunteer like once every week or two! We'll see!

Ice Age: Continental Drift

Today I cleaned the house a bit, did some laundry, and hung out with my pups for the majority of the day. Then I came to babysit again, and I took the girls to see Ice Age: Continental Drift. I saw the first Ice Age with 2 other kids that I babysit and thought it was really cute. The second one wasn't quite as good, but it was still entertaining, and the girls seemed to enjoy it!

Thursday Update

Today I babysat for a few hours. When I got there, Abby insisted on showing me a music video that she found, and I was pleasantly surprised to enjoy it very much! These two girls are incredible, and they're going to be famous one day...very soon! Check them out!

I went swimming with the girls and then we played Candyland, and Jenga MAX (which wasn't nearly as cool as regular Jenga). Then we had lunch and watched some tv until their mom came home. After I left there, I stopped at Publix to pick up a few things, and came home.

I'm going to go for a run soon, before yoga! I did it once last week and really loved it! I felt like the run had pumped me up for yogs, and I had a great class! I should be on week two of my 5k training schedule, but since V joined me, I told him I would stay back another week with his beginning, so we could be on the same schedule. He's going to miss today's run, but he'll be back for our next one on Saturday or Sunday, then we'll be starting week two! Run for 2 minutes, walk 1 minute, seven times.

I'm looking forward to when I'll be capable of running 30 minutes straight!

Hurt Wrist

After yogs yesterday, I took a dip in the pool with V. I swam a lot and did a bunch of handstands. At one point, I was in a plank pose with my hands on the second step in the pool and V picked up my right arm (and I kept my arm straight), and then when he set it back down, it was a little rough and hurt my wrist at the moment, but just for a second. Then like an hour and a half to two hours later, it noticed it starting to ache a little bit. I figured it would go away after a night of sleep, but when I woke up this morning it was worse. And has gotten worse ever since. I'll be Googling what it could possibly be, and what I could do to help, of course. And I'm going to try some ice and see if that helps. I'm really hoping it'll be better by tomorrow, and won't get much worse today. No yoga tonight or tomorrow, so that'll probably be good. We're running tonight, and tomorrow I'm going to Aquatica with my bestie, so I'm sure I won't really be up for yoga after running around in the sun all day!

Would-Have-Been-Graduation

UGH! So I met up with Savannah so we could go to school together to talk to an advisor. I wanted to find out about graduation, and I had a question about a class. The class I was wondering about was an education class that I was going to take the semester I changed my major from Elementary Education to Sign Language Interpreting. Its just one class and I want to add it to my schedule before I'm done so I'll have it out of the way for when I go to get my Bachelors in Elementary Ed. I also found out that if I hadn't changed my major, I would be graduating in DECEMBER. *sigh* I've been second guessing my major, but I think it's just because I haven't been into ASL much over the summer. Hopefully come next semester I'll be back into it. And lets get real, I'm not actually going to change my major again!

or am I...........

Happy Sunday!

This morning we woke up and went for a run! Yep, V came running with me! I'm so happy that he decided to come because he really enjoyed it, and decided that he's going to run with me on the days that we don't go to yoga! After our run, we got ready to go on a ride, and ended up in Mount Dora. We headed back towards the house and went to lunch at my favorite place to eat lunch, Hot Dog Heaven! We came home and have been lounging around on the couch ever since! It has been loverly. I love the days where we're just together all.day.long. We're making dinner right now, and watching a playoff in the Greenbriar Classic, quite exciting!

Laundry Day

Today I did a whole lotta laundry. And a whole lotta nothing else! I'm babysitting my two favorite girls tonight, and they're in bed. I thought about taking a test in psychology, but decided against it!

I'm hanging out with Finley instead! All he wanted was to be next to me and he kept jumping up on the couch and immediately laying on my lap, but he's not allowed to be on the couch, so I got down on the floor so we could cuddle. He's thrilled!

Federal Pell Grant

I was just looking through school stuff on my Atlas account and wanted to see what my total amount for classes will be for next semester... $1,094 and some change. Then I looked at my financial aid award information and saw that I have a Federal Pell Grant of $2,775 for this coming fall semester, and another $2,775 for next spring. That means I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE OUT ANY STUDENT LOANS!!!!! As long as I'm smart with what I have left over from the grant money, I'll be able to save up for my LAST semester next summer!!!!!! And who knows, maybe I'll get another grant or scholarship for next summer like I did for this summer! That would be fabulous!

I only have 6 classes left for my interpreting degree, but I can't take more than 2 of them at the same time (which is why I'll be there for another 3 semesters). So this fall I'm taking ASL IV, and Interpreting II. There's also a fingerspelling class that's offered for 2 credits that I'm adding to my light load. It's only one day a week and it's short. I'm hoping it'll just be a fun, easy class, that will improve my fingerspelling skills. I'm also taking a KARATE CLASS one day a week, which I think is going to be really fun!

Then next spring I'll take Interpreting III and Structure (which is supposed to be a really hard class, so I'm not sure if I'll be adding any extra classes...unless I end up really liking karate, maybe I'll take Karate II. We'll see!) Then my last semester I'll take Interpreting IV and Transliterating (which is also supposedly a really hard class). Since it's my very last semester, I'll probably just stick with those two. There are only two karate classes offered, so even if I was still in love with it, I'd have to look into doing it somewhere outside of school.

I'm just excited to know that at this time next year I'll be finishing up my very last semester, and preparing to graduate!!!!!! (And possibly getting ready to move to SC?! WHO KNOOOOWS!!!)

Day 2 Run

I decided I'm going to do my runs in the morning...with Lacey! I would say we ran/walked about 2 miles!

She almost pulled me on my face only once, after a squirrel was taunting her from a nearby tree. Literally. Like, I was stumbling, and I saw myself falling down but luckily caught my balance. All in all it was a good run. Pretty tiring, honestly! But I'm excited for what's to come, and I'm glad that it's done with for today, lol. Lacey is totally exhausted! I think this will be good for her.

I found out that the only way to have my hair while running is french braided. Otherwise, any other way I have it, it falls out. I didn't have it in a bun at the bottom while running, it was in a low pony tail. I have two french braids on either side and I brought them together at the bottom for a pony. I didn't like the ponytail so much because it kept getting stuck to my sweaty back and shoulders, so I'm going to try something different next time. Maybe a ponytail with 3 other hair ties down it to keep it all together. I always thought those were so stupid when I saw athletes wear their hair like that, but now I totally understand why they did it! It wasn't to look cool, it was to keep their hair under control! Lol

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

First Day of 5k Training

This evening I started my 5k training. Remember that Color Run Beginner Plan I posted a couple weeks ago? I started today! I just ran up and down my street, and it took about 20 minutes total. It was pretty intense, but I have to say I feel really good after finishing (and getting cooled off). I feel like I'm headed toward something that's going to be really awesome and I'm excited! My sister and cousin are planning to run a 5k on July 28th and my sister invited me, but I'm not sure if I'll be ready to run it all just yet, but we'll see!

Patriotic Nails!

I painted my nails for the holiday today!

My loverly sister, Lindsey, taught me a trick to get designs that actually look good! You just paint a strip of scotch tape with nail polish (2 coats is always better than 1), and cut the tape, stick it on your nail, and put a clear coat over it! LOVES IT!

V has the day off and I'm THRILLED, but idk what we're gonna do! I'd really like to see some fireworks somewhere, but I don't want to go anywhere that's going to be super crowded. The only place I know of around here is Lake Eola's Fireworks at the Fountain but it's ALWAYS crazy crowded. A couple years ago we spent the 4th in St. Augustine. 2009 to be exact.

It was really awesome because we could see other people's fireworks all around the beach, but I don't know if I want to drive out to the beach since V has to work the next day. But that's definitely one place we can go that won't be crowded.

I'm going to do some searching around on Google to see if I can find something to do!

Picking Up the Mister

I went to a yoga class this morning at Lululemon in the Millenia Mall because one of my favorite OPY teachers was teaching it! It was...okay...kind of weird because people in the mall stopped and watched, and their floors are wood, which makes for a very uncomfortable frog pose.

After that, I came home and got cleaned up, and picked up my mom's dog, Fischer. He's staying with us while she's gone in Illinois.

When I got home, V was there and he took me to get lunch at our favorite hot dog joint! When we got home from there we decided to stay home for the remainder of the day.

We decided, while eating dinner, to rent a movie. V picked 21 Jump Street and I actually enjoyed it! Channing Tatum is hottttt stuff, and it was pretty funny! Now it's late, and I'm tired, so we're going to bed!

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF JULY!
